The best way to perform a white balance is to:

  • Adjust the lamp brightness to a high intensity setting.

  • Move the slide stage so that the microscope/camera sees only the light and a clear section of the slide glass. For stereoscopes use a white or grey background card.

  • Launch the uScope application and click "Settings" then the "Auto" button under White Balance. You can also do a spot white balance by using the "Pick" button, if it is available. Performing a white balance computation a second time can often refine the results.

  • New white balance values will be stored within the camera and will be maintained even with powering down or disconnecting the camera, until a new white balance function is performed.
